Professional renovation works and implementation of new technologies allow us to preserve value as well as save carbon emissions stored in the existing structures.

We focus on implementing biodiversity inside and outside the building - therefore we established new green islands at the main entrance and lobby, and created a “park” on the terrace of the second floor. This includes the planting of 65 m2 of aromatic edible plants and herbs, 53 m2 of honey-bearing flowering plants, 27 m2 of ornamental grasses and shrubs, 10 m2 of climbing plants as well as 240 m2 of shrubs and grasses in increased flower beds. Those plantings lead to a four fold increase in the biologically active surface, the creation of a green space reducing the urban heat island and is creating a microhabitat for birds and insects.

We continuously implement functional measures to increase energy efficiency of our buildings, reduce their carbon footprint, and optimize the use of water and resources, and to enhance biodiversity.

Our measures are aligned with the SDGs.

In LIFE_building all common areas as well as leasable areas are equipped with LED lights. We have updated all toilets and water taps to reduce water consumption. Detailed measurements and consumption analysis combined with an upgraded BMS system allow us to further optimize the use of resources. To verify the effect of our efforts, we will measure our carbon footprint on annual basis. By selecting locations near amenities, public transport, cycling and pedestrian routes we allow our tenants to commute actively, live healthy lifestyle and reduce their carbon footprint.

LIFE_building offers an excellent public accessibility and through the availability of bike stands and e-chargers on our property, we support our tenants to also reduce their carbon footprint when coming to the building. With our biophilic design, we want our spaces to provide connection to nature. We use natural material, patterns and other elements to bring nature inside our buildings. By creating public spaces that can be used by all members of the building, we aim to make the building a more livable place.

Governance_

Our activities meet not only national legal requirements but go beyond. We strive to deliver best results by engaging with our tenants, facility and property managers, and suppliers. This will ensure that all stakeholders understand and contribute to our environmental and social goals.

In LIFE_building, all leases are based on green lease policy. Further, the property management and facility management contracts will follow a sustainability guideline. It is our aim to further improve the building and to confirm this sustainability performance we use BREEAM-In-Use certifications.
